Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, Massachusetts

Merrimack Repertory Theatre Show

Merrimack Repertory Theatre was founded in 1979 by a group of Lowell civic leaders “to advance the cause of human understanding by creating theatrical productions at the highest level of artistic excellence and making them affordable to the broadest possible community.”

Year-round performances are presented in historic Liberty Hall, the company’s 308-seat theatre adjacent to Lowell Memorial Auditorium, located in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts.

With an annual attendance averaging over 35,000, the theatre serves the Merrimack Valley (and suburban Boston area) with about six productions each season. The ultimate goal of the Theatre is to give easy access to the arts to a diverse audience, and one way they do this is by offering daytime matinees, providing an affordable way for young people to experience the mission of the Theatre.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre has received numerous awards, citations, and tributes, including recognition in American Theatre Magazine, The Boston Globe and Boston Magazine for artistic excellence and its contributions to the Greater Lowell community.  Throughout its history, Merrimack Repertory Theatre has offered over 150 productions, giving residents in the area an opportunity to experience world-class theatrical productions at a reasonable cost.
